Our Vision

• To provide resources and education to individuals with Down syndrome and their families

• To welcome families receiving a Down syndrome diagnosis into our community with resources and support, a welcome basket, and social events

• To present medical professionals with the education and evidence-based tools necessary to deliver a Down syndrome diagnosis in a compassionate and well-informed manner so that new families feel educated, empowered, and have a better understanding and accurate representation of all aspects of living with Down syndrome

• To greet and offer support to families that are new to the area

• To advocate alongside individuals with Down syndrome while enabling and empowering these individuals to advocate for themselves to ensure that they are living lives where they feel supported in their quest to develop to their fullest potential

• To promote the inclusion and acceptance of all individuals with Down syndrome within schools, workplaces, and all areas of the community

• To provide a virtual meeting place by way of a private Facebook group and LISTSERV where families can connect with one another when unable to do so face-to-face

• To organize an annual summer picnic along with an annual holiday party for individuals with Down syndrome and their families to gather and socialize; this is in addition to other Down Syndrome Connection sponsored activities throughout the year

• To offer quarterly educational opportunities to families through our “Family Education Series”

• To give back to the community that gives so much to our families by way of supporting advocacy partnerships with various local organizations that back the work of our mission including other local Down syndrome organizations

• To extend scholarships and grants to individuals with Down syndrome and their families for education related conferences, seminars, camps, etc.

• To advance legislative efforts that positively impact the lives of individuals with Down syndrome within our community and beyond through local, state, and federal advocacy initiatives involving, but not limited to, decisions involving the ethics, education, housing, work, finances, and overall quality of life of those with Down syndrome

• To raise awareness related to the great potential of people with Down syndrome who are living valuable lives that both greatly contribute to their communities and advance society as a whole
